After a hiatus of two years, one of the popular flea market-cum-live music events took place on a Kolkata hotel lawn last weekend. Earlier, the spread of the pandemic had put a dampener to the organisers' plans.
But this year, the event premise was buzzing with youngsters pouring in huge numbers to have a good time. Stalls selling junk jewellery and cushions to coffee mugs and trendy clothes saw many enquiries. The food and beverages counters, too, saw a beeline.
On the first day, band Sidebar featuring Josh, Dipan, Aditya, Daniel and Shaktay performed. Post that, DJ U-Gain took over the console and churned out some foot-tapping numbers.
The second day of the event saw band StreetFood Music and The Yellow Taxi, apart from
independent musicians
such as Aamir Rizvi, Raiko and Noyonica, in performance. The evening ended with DJ Devaa belting out some peppy music.
Nishit Arora, one of the organisers of the event, said, “It was lovely to see such a good turnout. We decided on doing this version of the event with the theme '
weekend Ichiba
'. Ichiba in Japanese means shopping. We had some amazing performers. This time, we kept it fresh with upcoming artistes along with some seasoned ones. Our
live music
lineup and the DJ lineup had a variety of genres. We had everything from indie, folk, hip hop to techno music playing over the two days.”
