“This festival is the brainchild of Shakti Chattopadhyay in 1985. The show came alive with the help of Abrittilok, Sahitya Akademi, EZCC, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. After Shakti Chattopadhyay left us, it was Sunil Gangopadhyay who continued with the tradition. For the past three years, Bratati Bandyopadhyay has joined hands with us to take this forward. This year, a programme was held at Madhusudan Mancha about the discourse of Tagore and Gandhi since we focussed on 150 years of Gandhiji,” said Soumitra Mitra, theatre personality and reciter.
This year, Chimoy Guha, Professor of English, University of Calcutta, and recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award 2019 was felicitated at the programme.
