Jaya Seal Ghosh to perform at ICCR

, Aruna Mohanty, Ratikant Mohpatra, Vyjyanti Kashi, Parwati Dutta, Chetna Jhalan and Anita Sharma. Now another Kolkata chapter of Navapallava is being taken up by percussionist Bickram Ghosh’s academy.

The programme aims to showcase the finest upcoming talents in the realms of classical dance. Dancers usually face a number of problems from the moment they are deemed eligible to perform. Various organisers demand money from the budding performers and the dancers are left with no choice but to pay and perform. Navapallava has emerged to combat this evil in the performing arts scenario. “Bickram’s performing arts academy has associated with Navapallava to provide a hall show at ICCR auditorium to these deserving dancers with the full support from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan. We are grateful to GV Subramaniyam of Bahartiya Vidya Bhawan and a software foundation of Bengaluru for their support in this noble cause and providing a platform to young upcoming dancers of our country. It is a movement that aims to provide a platform to discerning dancers. As a dancer and as a vice-principal of our academy, we are committed to doing our bit to help. Everyone’s presence will accentuate the purpose of organising such an event,” said Jaya.

The dance recital will be held on August 10 at ICCR auditorium from 6 pm. The event will have two Navapallava performers — Ivana Sarkar (Manipuri) from Kolkata and T Reddy Lakshmi (

Kuchipudi

) from Delhi. Jaya will dance as a guest performer.
