The Science City auditorium was packed to capacity. After all, it���s not everyday that one gets to see Ustad Amjad Ali Khan performing a sarod concerto.
Titled Samaagam, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan combined forces with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by David Murphy. The concert began with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra performing a piece by Mozart for seven minutes and then Beethoven for a good 30 minutes.
It was then Ustad Amjad Ali Khan���s turn to take the stage with a solo performance and he performed raag Desh for the audience accompanied by Tanmoy Bose on tabla. Bose has been balancing his act well ��� first performing with Pt Ravi Shankar a few days back and now with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
���It feels great to share my music with you. I���ve never done something like this before. I hope you love the symphonies that I���ve created,��� said Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. The guest list included Harsh and Madhu Neotia, Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi, actor Barun Chanda and Priti Patel, who listened with rapt attention when the Ustad played along with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan���s wife Subhalakshmi was seated in the front row along with Bonnya Bose.The audience applauded every piece and by the time the show was over, the auditorium erupted in thunderous applause.
