Host of musicians set the festive tune at a terrace concert

As Kolkata is warming up to live shows, a bunch of city musicians, including Prabudhha Bannerjee,

, Anindya Chattopadhyay, Pata and several others gathered at a terrace concert on Thursday to celebrate music amid festivity. The concert that took place at the terrace of a residential complex in South Kolkata featured a host of young singers, along with the veterans.


The terrace was tastefully decorated by the young musicians with chandmala, origami pigeon and an artwork by Upal. While Pata, Ujjaini Banerjee and some others came early, performed and left, it was only in the late evening musicians started pouring in. Prabuddha played with Prashmita Paul and Anindya, who came along with his son,

Juju

. Upal’s high-voltage performance of Chandril Bhattacharya’s Arre Deewano, Amake Cheno made the audience cheer and dance. Despite playing percussion, Gaboo was asked to sing and he mesmerised the audience with Priya Cafe in his signature voice. Prosen too presented an electrifying performance of his original composition, Baul qawali, Ore Mon.


“The pandemic has been a killer for all of us. It stopped us from what we loved the most, our performance. While we all tried to find our ways to survive,

live music

is like a bout of oxygen for all of us. Shows started coming up and just before the Puja, it was an absolute fun to be able to play here,” said Arindam Chatterjee, bassist of Kaya.
