Sudarshan Chakravorty
is in the USA for a work cum pleasure trip. He is in San Farncisco right now along with his troupe. Sudarshan said, “I always had a strong bonding with Sans Francisco since 2002 when we did a hugs video conference with choreographers from
San Francisco
and Kolkata. This helped us to network artistes for our Interface event which was eastern India’s first
international
dance festival. This dance festival will again take place in 2020. So this trip is for networking and sourcing new choreographers and companies who can perform in Interface. I am also looking forward to choreographers who will be interested in International Choreographers Residency (INCRES) of my dance institute. IBCRES is where a choreographer coaches and teaches in our institute and is also connected to various students on the outskirts of Kolkata and form a community to reach out to people through programmes including visiting schools and interacting with the students.”
Sudarshan will be meeting choreographers like Robert Moses, Mary Carbonara,
Margaret Jenkins
and others who has been associated with his dance institute in some way or other and it will help to find new collaborators and artistes who will be interested in INTERFACE. “I will also meet some interested dance enthusiasts of the diaspora in the Bayberry area scouting for talents who needs a forum in India,” added Sudarshan.
