Heralding Spring

As the guests entered Town Hall for Akhon Basanta, a programme heralding Holi, a tika of colour was smeared on their foreheads, setting the mood for the event.
It was an evening to cherish, as Sounak Chattopadhyay, Ranjini Mukherjee, Bidipta Chakraborty, Rohini Roychoudhury and Debashish Roychoudhury regaled the audience with Rabindrasangeet.
The show was interspersed with a poetry-reading session by Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and Chaitali Dasgupta and dance recitals.Indrayani Mukherjee gave an impressive Kathak performance, while Purnima Ghosh presented a piece fusing Manipuri and Bharatnatyam and Rimjhim Mitra and Joydeep Palit matched steps for a creative dance, all on the theme of spring.
