Gargee wows audience with her stage comeback

Gargee RoyChowdhury has come back to the stage and how! The actress impressed the audience with her monologue,

, in a packed auditorium on Sunday. Through an elaborate choreography, beautiful rendition of songs and acting, Gargee told the story of a young, aspiring artiste and everybody loved
the presentation.

From members of the film fraternity to business tycoons and artists — several luminaries were spotted at the do. Before the performance, actor Prosenjit Chatterjee introduced the actress to the audience. “It is important for an artiste to take some bold steps and Gargee’s decision to come back on stage is one such step. Through this, we are going to rediscover Gargee’s talent,” he said.

Directed and scripted by playwright Ujjwal Chattopadhyay, Rangini features several other big names in its crew. While Debajyoti Mishra composed the music,

Sudarshan Chakravorty

has done the choreography of the play. Dev R Nil have designed the costumes.

“This is a performance text. We decided on the performances first and then wove them in and developed the script. Gargee, as a vibrant actress, portrays different shades of theatrical acting in the play,” said the director.

Later, the actress told us, “Acting is the reason I live. I am really glad that so many people came to watch my play. I am fascinated by the support I got from everyone.”
