Folk band Sahajiya enthrals all with their performance in city

City-based folk band, Sahajiya, recently performed at the Swayamsiddha Mela. The motto of the fair was to support and promote the sale of handcrafted products by 1,000 self-help groups from 125 municipalities and corporations across districts in the state.
The band members were excited to perform at the do since it was their first public event since the lockdown last year.The fairground was thronged by thousands who swayed to soulful numbers rendered by the band. Sahajiya’s frontman, singer Deb Chowdhury, said, “After almost a year we performed with our full band in front of such a big audience. I am grateful to the fair authorities for giving us this opportunity. It was lovely connecting with your fans at a live gig after so many months.”
The band, comprising Arnab (world percussions), Deborshee (keyboard), Tarun (flute), Shankar (dhol), Samm (bass guitar), Bubun (drums), Rudraneel (bluegrass banjo) and Deb (lead vocal), presented folk songs from around the world. Popular songs like Pindare Polasher Bon, Hostir Noran Hostir Choran, Phagunore Poshuyaye, Bhromor Koio Giya, Prem Rosika Hobo Kemone and others enthralled the audience. They also presented Shah Abdul Karim’s hit song Basanto Batase in a Jamaican reggae form.
