A nice cut! (TOI Photo)The cuts and drapes models sashayed on the ramp with sent temperatures soaring at the Hyatt Regency on Friday night. An offering of Vizyon, Kolkata’s only international fashion destination, the high-voltage show presented the season’s new collection created by four designers from its studios Arzu Kaprol from Turkey, Berit Steffin of Austria, Filippo Agnelli of Italy and Yeojin Bae of Australia.
As Sheetal Mallar, Noyonika Chatterjee, Indrani Dasgupta, Carol Gracias, Dipannita Sharma, Jesse Randhawa and Monikangana Dutta scorched the ramp, Kolkata was treated to global fashion in the form of trenchcoats, kaftans, trousers, shirts and evening dresses in interesting colours, cuts and detailing.
The fashion show marks the celebration of the first anniversary of Vizyon, pioneered by Shradha and Ayush Murarka. If Filippo’s garments melded folk and techno with Indian accents, Yeojin’s collection expressed her love for vintage prints and attention to feminine fits. Arzu’s FuturIstanbul was inspired by the city of Istanbul and the Ottoman legacy. Arzu has dressed the likes of Isabella Hervey and Gisele Bundchen. Berit, who has worked for Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi, mixed leather with feminine cuts and interesting twists.
Host for the evening Konkona Sen Sharma looked resplendent in a saffron cocktail sari embellished with French lace, designed by Vizyon creative director Shradha Murarka. Husband Ayush said, Pure Western style which is wearable and which suits Indian sensibilities is what we want to present through our store. With the new collection set to hit the racks, Vizyon’s vision appears to be be crystal clear and very much in the right direction.
