Diplomats enjoy cricket at fun event

In Australia, it is said that the captain of their national

cricket

team is as important as the prime minister of the country. On Wednesday at the

British High Commission

, when Australian Consul General Andrew Ford shared the cricket madness in his country, Australia had already lost three wickets to England. “I used to play cricket when I was in school but the love for the sport is still there,” he told us, while constantly checking the score on the giant screen.
The occasion, however, was special as the British High Commission organised a screening of the England-Australia World Cup semi-final with the officials of Australian Consulate. “Recently, the Australian CG took a part of the British High Commission building for rent. Since we are sharing the building, why not share the cricket madness together too,” said a spokesperson from the British High Commission.
Guests invited to the event played various games like

beer pong

and took part in quiz while the cricketers took a lunch and drinks break. Meanwhile, Bruce Bucknell, the British deputy high commissioner, said, “On Sunday, Andrew and I were predicting that India will win the World Cup this year. But see what happened in two days. This is the best thing about sports. It brings people together and makes them compete.”
