Dance show pays tributes to motherhood

A city-based dance institute recently organised a show where both children and adults performed at an auditorium. The show was an extended celebration of Mother’s Day and several known faces from the city’s arts and culture sphere were in attendance.

Dancer Avirup Sengupta, the brain behind the show, also performed along with other artistes. The evening opened with Odissi performances based on Mangala Charan, Jaya Bhagavati, Angikam, Guru Bramha, Mokhsya, Manikya Veena and others. This was followed by Avirup and his troupe presenting a special dance recital as a tribute to all mothers based on the song,

Luka Chupi

, by the late Lata Mangeshkar.



Talking about the show, Avirup, said, “The show was our tribute to all the mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day. The students also paid homage to Lata Mangeshkar with a performance titled, Meri Awaz Hi Pehchan Hai.”



The event ended with the production, Mangal Barta, by singer

Riddhi Bandopadhyay

, Raya Bhattacharya, Avirup and a group of specially-abled kids who put up the act.
