On the occasion of revered Bengali poet Atul Prasad Sen's 150th birth anniversary year, singer Riddhi Bandopadhyay and members of her music academy hosted a digital event, Ek Nirbak Jugosandhi, recently. Riddhi, along with inter-disciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee performed at the show, among others. They rendered the song Ami Bandhinu Tomar Tire Tarani Amar composed by the poet.
The special production started with pieces written by veteran actor Pahari Sanyal and
Dilip Kumar Roy about the poet and was read out by Sujoy, followed by Riddhi's songs.
Riddhi said, "This song, Ami Bandhinu Tomar Tire Tarani Amar, was composed by the poet when he was in his 40s. The song was recorded by Santosh Sengupta in the 1970s. Though it's not a popular song, I personally have a soft spot for it and that's why I paid my tribute through it."
Sujoy was also delighted to be a part of the digital event. He shared, "In the bicentenary year of Atul Prasad's birth, we pay our respects to him hoping this generation would understand the essence of his creative aspect. This construction brought us to the depths of Atul Prasad's 'delicate' mind, where creativity grew in the combination of sadness and separation and flooded the hearts of the people of both Epar Bangla and Opar Bangla.”
