City artistes join hands to celebrate humanity

A host of well-known faces from the film and music industry gathered at Nazrul Mancha on Saturday to be a part of a cultural evening that aimed at celebrating humanity. The show was anchored by Piya Chakraborty, activist and wife of singer-composer-lyricist Anupam Roy. The event was attended by Aparna Sen, Parambrata Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Kaushik Sen, Riddhi Sen, Surangana, Bidipta Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Rupam Islam, Debojyoti Mishra, Gabu, Iman Chakraborty, Srikanta Acharya, Somlata,

Srijato

, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and others.


Parambrata, Rupam, Anupam, Satadal, Anirban, Rwitobroto and Riddhi together sang a medley of Ek Je Chilo Raja and Halla Rajar Sena. Talking about the show, Rupam said, “We don’t want to be identified by race, colour or religion. We just want to be identified as Bharatbashi.”


Anirban recited Shob Mone Rakha Hobe, the Bengali translation of Aamir Aziz’s Sab Yaad Rakha Jayega. Sudiptaa Chakraborty’s Hindi recitation of Chalo Ek Din Ke Liye Tum Hindu Ban Jaao was also well-appreciated by everyone present at the do. “In the current turbulent times,it is really necessary for us to express ourselves through our art,” said drummer Gabu.
