A music institution recently organised Saaz aur Awaz, a two-day extravaganza celebrating Indian classical music and percussions. The event was directed by Pt Abhijit Banerjee, who dedicated it in memory of his guru, Padmabhushan Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
One of the highlights of the programme was tabla presentation by the visually challenged students. Minister Dr Sashi Panja and Mayor-in-Council Debashish Kumar were present at the launch of a braille book on tabla.

The festival closed on Day One with a violin, tabla, flute and sarod recital by Vidushi Kala Ramnath, Pt Arup Chatterjee, Pt Bickram Ghosh, Pt Ronu Majumdar and Pt Debojyoti Bose, respectively.
The final evening of the festival saw senior students of the academy put up a show, after which the veterans performed one after the other. “We have been organising this concert for the past 14 years in order to provide a platform to the talented visually challenged and underprivileged music aspirants,” shared Banerjee.
