– A Celebration of the Modern Woman” on the eve of International Women’s Day, saw lively discussions and some deep pondering by actresses and models present at a south Kolkata cafe.Aparajita Ghosh
(actress/director) lead the panel discussions and shared their experiences, thoughts and journeys as women. According to Anusha, there is no harm in celebrating a particular day as International Women's Day. "We started the discussion on the note that a day for celebrating women is fine. I believe, just because it's one particular day, it doesn't mean we don't celebrate or laud women on the other days for their achievements. These days, celebrations are numerous. There are so many days marked for each one. Celebrating Valentine's Day doesn't mean we don't love our dear ones on other days. Besides, on this day, there are so many charitable programmes launched by organisations and groups. These benefit the people of the society," she said.Amrita, the owner of the cafe and the one who organised the discussion, said, “A woman reflects strength and courage through which she conquers her dreams and choices.” She believes the event will bring into focus the various lifestyle challenges and obstacles of women and coping strategies, which they have adopted over the years to make an impact on society.
