Mayor's

Cup Kolkata

, organised by the

Cricket Association of Bengal

(CAB), kickstarted with around 38 school cricket teams in Kolkata. A total of 48 matches will be played in the entire tournament among a total of 38 schools, with the sole objective of providing young cricketers in the city a platform to showcase their talents. “Mayors Cup JR Tournament is a much-needed platform for young boys from Kolkata and a great opportunity and stage for them to shine and be noticed,” said Subhomoy Das, chief selector of the CAB.

The participating teams are performing well, and many promising talents are coming to the forefront. During the 18th match, for example, between

Aditya Academy

and

Shree Jain Vidyalaya

, the former team scored a whopping 575 runs in 37 overs with a loss of six wickets. They won the match by 551 runs.

“I am not very sure if this is the highest run ever scored in the tournament, but it was a huge score and will be in the

Top Three Score

ever made in the Tournament. This match showed the effort that the young players are taking to win,” said Subhomoy.
