City-based band

Kendraka

, comprising Mainak Nag Chowdhury aka Bumpy, Gaurab Chatterjee aka Gabu, Ratul Shankar and Bodhisattwa Ghosh, performed at an event organised at a rooftop café on Thursday evening. The band played a number of original compositions. They kickstarted their two-hour instrumental with Splash — a composition based on Holi, followed by The love of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mohona and 27 steps to chaos.

The guests who gathered to enjoy the show, tapped their feet along with the music. “As a drummer I love instrumental music, Kendraka is one of my favourite instrumental bands from the city. It’s great to watch them perform live,” said musician Himadri Shekhar Das, who was present at the do.

“Though this place is a little cramped, we still love the ambience and the crowd. Kendraka is about to reach its 10th year, and this is a preparatory show for that,” said Bumpy, adding that their compositions are a combination of

jazz

, Indian classical and contemporary music.
