All-women bike rally in Kolkata rides high on enthusiasm

On Tuesday afternoon, actress Swastika Dutta, Koneenica Banerjee and

Ushoshi Sengupta

were among the many women present at a

bike rally

in the city, which celebrated women from different walks of life. The working women of Kolkata gathered near

Salt Lake

for a bikers' union and created quite a buzz in the city.
Swastika seemed thrilled to be a part of such a unique event. "Whenever I receive an invitation for such an event, I feel extremely excited. It's a great initiative. Although we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8 every year, it deserves to be celebrated all 365 days a year. It was wonderful to see so many professionals, all women, making time for what they love doing amid a busy 9 to 5 job and family affairs. The fact that such events are taking place in the city mean that mindsets of the people are changing. Some seven-eight years back we didn't have these events taking place," she told us.

Koneenica saw this as an opportunity for many others to feel inspired. "Riding bikes, driving a car or flying a plane signify the love for freedom and the guts to embrace things out of one's comfort zone. I see this bike rally as an event that will inspire many women to be as free and happy as they want to be. I have had the dream of riding a bike or a scooty for the longest time. It didn't happen till now but now I am inspired to give it a try," she shared.

Ushoshi wished everyone present there a Happy International Women's Day and expressed her joy on being a part of the event.
