There couldn’t have been a better birthday gift for Rituparno Ghosh.
The reactions of many of those who went for the premiere of the Shree Venkatesh Films Pvt. Ltd. film, Chitrangada — The Crowning Wish, were enough to make him happy.
While many loved Jisshu Sengupta and Anjan Dutt’s performances, there were others who enjoyed Abhik Mukhopadhyay’s cinematography. “People might say that internationally such subjects have often been dealt with.But, for me, that is a non-issue. It is not an easy task to draw inspiration from one’s own life and then make a film on it. This is far better than what many directors of hyped Bengali films are now doing — seeking inspiration from foreign films or those from down south. I feel, this movie is a very honest attempt by Rituparno,” said director Buddhadeb Dasgupta.
