A recent Sunday evening at
Nazrul Mancha
turned out to be a little different for
Rupam Islam fans. The rockstar surprised the
fans
with some of his old and new unpublished songs, which sent the music lovers into a frenzy. That was the scene at Rupam Ekak — an
acoustic performance
by Rupam Islam.
From the decoration to the selection of songs, everything was different from the usual band concerts. The performance also sent out a social message, which was the motto of the concert.
“Whenever I am performing alone, I like to sing songs that are closer to my heart. It’s a mix of new and old, but all of them are very special to me,” said Rupam, while tuning his guitar. Singer
Pata
, who was seen enjoying the show, said, “I have been waiting for a Rupam Ekak for a long time now. It is a different experience altogether. As a musician and as a member of the audience, it is very fulfilling because you get to listen to a different Rupam. He is at his best when performing solo.”
The show was houseful with Rupam’s fans turning up in hordes. Some of them even wore custom-made T-shirts with the singer’s photo printed on it. “I am here to see and experience something that I have only heard of. I have never attended a solo Rupam concert. It’s surreal to say the least,” said Reshmi, an ardent Rupam fan.
