A musical tribute to Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan on his death anniversary

, breathed his last on September 6, 1972. To commemorate his death anniversary, a city-based music school is hosting a special show on September 8 at Ali Akbar Khan sahib's NSC Bose Road residence. The show is set to feature performances by students of the music school and many other young and upcoming musicians. The highlight of the event will be a

performance by Pt Partha Bose, one of the leading torch-bearers of the Senia

Maihar Gharana

, who recently completed five decades of musical journey in the industry. Talking about his upcoming performance, Pt Partha Bose said, “As a representative of the Senia Maihar Gharana, I feel it's a milestone in my career to be invited by Aashish Khan School of World Music to perform in memory of the great Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan, the founder of this gharana. The venue of the show, the south-Kolkata residence of the sarod legend, makes the event all the more special.” Accompanying Pt Partha Bose on the

Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan is living on in the minds and hearts of the connoisseurs of Indian classical music even after 47 years after his death. Khan’s disciples, including Pt Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Bidushi Annapurna Devi, Ustad Bahadur Khan, Pt Nikhil Banerjee, Pt Pannalal Ghosh and many others have effectively spread his legacy all over the world.
