85 & still going strong

Birthdays are a time to celebrate. So, when Prof Amlan Datta turned 85 recently, a documentary titled Monologue/Amlan: The Unknown Planet was screened at the Raj Bhavan.
The guest list on Friday evening included the Who���s Who from the city���s cultural circuit. Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi was prompt in wishing the achiever and even sat beside the octogenarian professor as the
25 minute documentary was screened.
Film-maker Mrinal Sen walked in just when the documentary was about to begin. And as he was about to occupy a seat in the last row, director Arun Chakraborty stopped him and escorted him to a seat next to that of the Governor���s. At the end of the screening, the director also gave a brief thanksgiving speech. ���I am grateful to Amlanda for giving me this opportunity to shoot a documentary on him. I had to do very less as all the hard work was done by the man himself,��� said Chakraborty.
