Kolkata team signals intent, outlines vision ahead of new season
The Kolkata franchise brought together players, support staff, partners and fans for an interactive evening in the city, using the platform to outline its vision and approach ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026.
Framed as a fan engagement initiative, the event combined entertainment with access, offering supporters a closer look at the squad through introductions, on-stage interactions and live segments. The evening also featured performances and interactive acts, including a mentalist segment by Naman Anand.
While a brief tribute was paid to former all-rounder Andre Russell – who will be part of the support staff this season as Power Coach — the broader focus remained on the team’s preparation and outlook for the new campaign.
Addressing the gathering, CEO Venky Mysore pointed to a positive environment within the group. “There’s a great energy within the squad and a strong belief in what we can achieve together. We’re looking forward to enjoying our cricket and playing in front of our fans at Eden Gardens,” he said.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane emphasised clarity in approach, stating that the team would focus on a fearless and positive brand of cricket. “The belief within the squad and the support from Kolkata fans inspire us to take responsibility and deliver consistently,” he said.
Head coach Abhishek Nayar highlighted the value of experience within the setup, noting that the presence of seasoned voices in the support staff adds depth to the group. “Having that guidance makes a significant difference. Together, we’re focused on taking this franchise to greater heights,” he said.
With a mix of leadership clarity, squad depth and continued fan connect initiatives, the Kolkata side heads into the new season looking to build on its recent success.
