Kolkata is dancing to: Bolly mixes, indie jams
To turn up the heat this winter, city DJs have the trendiest tracks on their playlists that’ll make you groove till dawn. From Tauba Tauba to Big Dawgs, here’s what’s keeping the party alive this season.
Techno, Bolly & Sufi mixes a big hit
Music preferences can be easily distinguished by age groups, and the city’s playlist is not just limited to peppy tracks, but soulful ones too. Reema Pramanick, corporate GM marketing of a city pub says, “Bollywood and techno is a big hit right now– it’s like the best of both worlds. The city is also welcoming Sufi mixes.”
Most DJs think the Kolkata crowd has a soft spot for regional tracks. “Punjabi tracks like Millionaire by Honey Singh and Diljit Dosanjh’s GOAT and Karan Aujla’s Softly are trending now, alongside a Marathi track named Taambdi Chaambdi,” says DJ Kichh. DJ Enzed adds, “Illuminati (Malayalam), Khaleesi (Gujarati) and Gulabi Sadi (Marathi) are also topping the playlists.”
