Kolkata embraces stylish & trendy rakhis
With Raksha Bandhan around the corner, Kolkata’s festive spirit is tying memories, love, and style into every thread. This year, rakhis are getting a heartwarming makeover — moving beyond the ordinary to become personalised tokens of affection. From charm bracelet-style rakhis that speak your sibling’s love language to handcrafted designs steeped in nostalgia, the city’s rakhi scene is all about celebrating the sibling bond with meaning and flair.
Charm, quirk and everything in between
This year’s rakhis are doubling as jewellery and keepsakes. Charm bracelet styles with initials, stars, monograms, and Korean trinkets are trending big, while lumba rakhis are getting a stylish spin as everyday accessories. “Labubu-themed rakhis and hampers are truly the star this year. Out of 100 orders, 93 asked for Labubu,” says Ruchi Jain of Wrapped Emotions. Monogrammed threads, engraved names, and evil eye motifs in chic hues are transforming tradition into fashion. “Rakhis are now meaningful fashion statements,” adds Meenu Sonthalia, a seller at the city’s pop-ups.
Custom-made for sibling love
This Rakhi, it’s personal — literally. Customised rakhis are the hottest trend. Think photo charms, initials, birthstones, and even fandom-inspired styles. “Sisters want rakhis that tell their story – be it initials & birthstones. It makes the bond even more special,” says Harshita Parasramka, a seller at the city’s pop-ups. “Rakhis with Korean style charms are also a hit,” said Pallavi Sharma
