Bhagini Mahotsav 2013 saw a large turnout in Kolhapur

This year’s Bhagini Mahotsav 2013, which was held recently in the city, saw a large turnout. This was the third successive year of this event which is aimed at supporting the members of Mahila Bachat Gat of Kolhapur district.
It reflects the progress made by the women of Kolhapur. Members from the Mahila Bachat Gat set up stalls and various activities were organised for the development of women.The event went beyond just being a platform for women to display products — it created awareness about various social issues.
Also, MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar and his wife Vaishali presented the Bhagini Awards to deserving women. Renowned Marathi singer Sulochana Chavan, who has always contributed to the art heritage of the city, was felicitated. She even sang her famous lavani song during the function. Chess player Rucha Pujari and shooter Rahi Sarnobat were also among those who received the award.
