When MT’s characters came alive on stage
Honouring the works of the prolific writer M T Vasudevan Nair, a theatre production named Mahasagaram was staged at Tagore Theatre at Thiruvananthapuram recently. The play was directed by thespian Prashanth Narayanan and revolved around prominent characters from the works of the writer.
Along with actress Surabhi Lakshmi, around 30 actors portrayed various roles from MT’s literary works such as Iruttinte Aathmavu, Naalukettu, Nirmalyam, Kaalam and Manju.

Surabhi was the show stealer as Kuttyedathi, Unniyarcha from Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Ammini from Naalukettu.
The one-and-a-half hour play was a visual treat for those who are familiar with the legend’s literary repertoire and was a highlight package for those who weren’t.
