Remembering P Bhaskaran

As part of the Navathi celebrations of Malayalam cinema, a statue of poet, lyricist and filmmaker P Bhaskaran was unveiled by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Manaveeyam Veedhi in Thiruvananthapuram recently. It was a joint initiative of the state Chalachithra Academy and state government to erect the statue at a cultural street in the city. Guests remembered the veteran who had penned many soulful poems and songs for Malayalam cinema.Spotted at the event were Sreekumaran Thampi, KJ Yesudas, actor Madhu, minister for cultural affairs AK Balan, filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, music director M K Arjunan, P Bhaskaran's wife Indira Bhaskaran, sculptor Jeevan Thomas and actor Prem Kumar.
