The

Kerala Chalachitra Academy

has received a facelift with the inauguration of Centre for International Film Research and Archives (CIFRA) inside the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) campus in Thiruvananthapuram. The well-equipped building which houses a research library with more than 10,000 Indian and foreign films, related books, mini-theatre and offices spaces was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The sprawling centre is also a memorial for the late legendary actor Satyan. Welcoming one inside the centre are the walls with photographs of veteran film personalities in Indian and Malayalam showbiz and posters of famous films. National Award winner Santhosh Raman, who is the interior designer of CIFRA, says that the sculptures including Chalachitra Academy signature logo of the dancing woman were made from automobile scraps.

Director Kamal, G Shankar, Prem Kumar, KP Kumaran, Sibi Malayil, Sreekumaran Thambi, Madhu, Ministers Kadakampally Surendran and AK Balan also attended the function.
