Over 11,000 yoga enthusiasts participate in event for International Yoga Day in Jaipur

enthusiasts flocked to Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Friday. The event was organised by the state government and the yoga session was conducted by Preeti Sharma, additional director, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Rajasthan. She has been practising yoga for the past 25 years. As many as 11,000 yoga enthusiasts participated in the event. The yoga session started at 7 in the morning and ended at 7:45 am with meditation.

“We followed the Common Yoga Protocol issued by the government which is a 45-minute sequence of yoga exercises. We started with a prayer followed by a few warm-up exercises. We then made the participants do a combination of standing, sitting, prone and supine posture exercises,” she informed. “Not just on Yoga Day, I hope everyone practises yoga every day. I have been doing yoga for the past 25 years and it is the reason behind my good health,” she added.
