On the occasion of World Tourism Day, special celebrations were hosted at city’s famous and historical monuments including Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. To make it more special, the entry for foreign and domestic tourists was free at all the Rajasthan Government’s museums and monuments across the State by the Department of Archaeology and Museums.

Tourists were given a warm welcome in a traditional way with flowers and putting on ‘Tilak’ at the Amber Fort. Popular folk dances of Rajasthan Kacchhi Ghodi and Kaalbeliya were also organised to entertain the tourists. Similarly at Hawa Mahal monument a ‘rangoli’ was made at the main entrance. Tourists were welcomed by putting traditional Rajasthani 'tilak' along with
shehnai vaadan.

Tourists visiting Jantar Mantar, the famous observatory were in for a surprise to not only enjoy the visit to the monument but were also enjoyed a special kathputli dance performance. Says Shashiprabha Swami, superintendent Jantar Mantar, "Today is a special day so gave a special treatment to all our tourists. Along with a traditional welcome, we organised
shehnai vadan and
kathputli dance performance for them. They were thrilled with a unique experience and entertainment."

Tourists were also given message of monument conservation and cleanliness. Chhoti Chaupad Art Gallery was also open for both domestic and foreign tourists.
