City women's organisation, Shakti Foundation, performed the traditional ritual of 'Sindoor Khela' with enthusiasm and zeal. The programme began with a detailed explanation of the tradition of 'Sindoor Khela' and its importance, after which a puja was organised. Dressed in Bengal's traditional white saree with red border, women first offered ‘sindoor’ to Maa Durga with betel leaf, then applied ‘sindoor’ to each other and performed the ritual of 'Sindoor Khela'. For this event, an eco-friendly idol of Maa Durga, traditional clothes and ‘puja thaals’ were specially ordered from Kolkata.
