When Meena Kumari comes alive on Jaipur stage

Famous Bollywood actress Meena Kumari’s life comes alive with the dramatic adaptation of theatrical play Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh on the stage of Pink city. The play staged at Rangayan auditorium of Jawahar Kala Kendra was based on the life of film actress Meena Kumari who ruled silver screen with her acting and presented many of unseen aspects of the legendary actress.

Written and directed by senior artist Sartaj Narayan Mathur, known actress Saleha Ghazi played the role of Meena Kumari in this musical drama. It was co-starred by artist Kavita Mathur. The drama takes a turn and concludes with the news of her demise announced on Aakashwani on 31st March 1972, with the last word – “The famous actress Meena Kumari is no more. She died at a nursing home in Mumbai, she was 40 years old”.
