Play Mohan Se Mahatma staged in Jaipur

Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation, came alive on Ravindra Manch when a play 'Mohan Se Mahatma' was staged in the city. Pierrot’s Troupe’s theatre company, recreated the Champaran Satyagrah of 1917 the symbol of Gandhi Ji’s introduction to India.

The play, hosted by Rajasthan urdu Akademi, portrays the Champaran Satyagrah not only as a political movement, but a larger one that included social, educational and economic reforms of far reaching consequence into its ambit. The play begins with 55 year old Gandhiji, played by Ravi Raj Sagar taking notes of his memoirs about the Champaran Satyagrah for his autobiography ‘My Experiments With Truth’. , also the director and co-writer of the play, played the young Gandhi.

The play signified the central role played by Gandhiji in re-defining the mood and mode of India’s struggle for freedom. It also highlighted the transformation of Gandhiji from one of the political leaders of national importance to India’s principal political campaigner.

It also discovers that the movement went on to establish Gandhiji as a spiritually revered personality as the very terms ‘Bapu’ and ‘Mahatma’ were coined and became a fashion during the time of Champaran Satyagrah. The actors who played in the act were Ravi Raj Sagar, M Sayeed Alam, Jaskiran Chopra, Ayman Ansari, Aryan Pratap, Saman Salman, Sahir Dagar ,Pawnesh Chahar, Asutosh Kumar, Sahil Jain, Laxmi Rawat, Tohit Sharma.
