Makarand Deshpande’s play Miss Beautiful brings the curtain down on Jairangam 2019
The eighth edition of Jairangam: Jaipur Theatre Festival 2019 came to an end with Makarand Deshpande’s play Miss Beautiful. The play was staged at Birla Auditorium on Friday. There is a play within a play in Miss Beautiful.
Makarand portrays the character of a scriptwriter who is working on the draft of his new play. The script of his new play is based on his life and the life of his ailing parents, whom he casts in the play. His parents, on the other hand, want to see their son married before they breathe their last. The plot takes an interesting turn when the son brings home an unsuspecting actress. The play is at times hilarious and yet faces the subject of death and accepts it truthfully.
