The eighth edition of the Theatre Olympics concluded
on Sunday after 15 days of theatrical extravaganza. The closing day saw 'Shastra-Santan', directed by Ashok Sagar Bhagat. The Hindi play depicts how children carry the legacy as well as the burden of the unfulfilled ambitions of royal families. The play is based on the power struggle between two brothers, to achieve the royal throne.

Based on a story taken from the epic, Mahabharata, the play showed how Pandu offers his beautiful wives Kunti and Madri to the gods for ‘Niyoga’, without any remorse or guilt, merely to possess a son. While another character, Dhritarashtra is equally obsessed for power and has a hundred sons.
