Jai Dhir returns with romantic Afro-beat single ‘Shaam’
Punjabi singer-songwriter Jai has dropped his latest single, Shaam. Known for weaving heartfelt storytelling with Punjabi, R&B, and pop influences, Jai has already crossed over 500 million streams with hits like Leja, Mirza, and Petals, while collaborating with global names including Jay Sean, Lost Stories, and Ikky. His distinctive voice and genre-fluid sound continue to position him as one of the most exciting young talents in contemporary music.
Following three critically acclaimed singles this year – Nobody But Me, Sidekick, and Velvet Sky – Jai’s Shaam offers a romantic, Afro-beat–infused vibe. The track paints an evening steeped in love and longing, where smooth melodies and a flowing rhythm liken a girl to the beauty of twilight itself—mysterious, calming, and irresistible. The evocative chorus, “so you have any name or I can call you mine, if you’re evening then I’ll live without the morning,” captures the timeless devotion of love that feels endless.
Sharing his thoughts on the release of this track, Jai said, “Writing ‘Shaam’ felt completely effortless, the words just flowed the moment I got on the mic. NEVERSOBER had sent me this beat almost a year ago, and the first time I heard it, the hook instantly came to me. My intention was to create something simple yet instantly memorable – something that stays with you after just one listen. I don’t often explore the Afro sound, but whenever I do, it feels so natural and enjoyable that the music just comes together seamlessly.”
