The trend of popup dinner, where chefs and culinary enthusiasts host a group of strangers to try out new cuisines, sign up for new experiences and exchange stories that binds them as a group is becoming popular in the city. Last weekend turned out to be a very different experience for businessman Kuber Bagani, when he met eight strangers over a four course dinner and discussed death. , then it is normal. “I am not a fan of small talk, yet I loved the invigorating conversation with completely new people. It stayed on my mind the entire night and still lingers on. The meal and arrangement for this kind of conversation was just perfect. I hope to run into the group soon, maybe at another one of such dinners” shares Bagani. The recent Death over Dinner edition had people share their experience of seeing death at close quarters. “There was comfort food like tofu rice, thai curry,

cauliflower

and carrot

with cinnamon apple; and conversation about death and the purpose of existence flowed naturally. People opened up about their lives and fears. By the end of it we probably exchanged more with strangers than we would have done at any other gathering” says Shruti Parmar, an artiste who attended the dinner.
