Play Komal Gandhar staged at Aaina Theatre Festival

The three-day theatre festival organised by Anvaratt theatre group at Anandmohan Mathur Sabhagraha in Indore began on Saturday evening with the play Komal Gandhar. The play highlighted few sequences from Mahabharata but with a twist where Gandhari, Dhritarashta’s wife refuses to wear a blindfold. The play shows a rebellious Gandhari who is not accepting of anything that puts a woman down just because her husband is blind as happens in the mythological series Mahabharata.The new age Gandhari fights for equal rights as men in the play and gives a powerful message of women empowerment. The theatre festival aims at reflecting the stereotypes in today’s society through various play.
