Play Komal Gandhar staged at Aaina Theatre Festival

in Indore began on Saturday evening with the play

. The play highlighted few sequences from Mahabharata but with a twist where Gandhari, Dhritarashta’s wife refuses to wear a blindfold. The play shows a rebellious

Gandhari

who is not accepting of anything that puts a woman down just because her husband is blind as happens in the mythological series Mahabharata. The new age Gandhari fights for equal rights as men in the play and gives a powerful message of women empowerment. The theatre festival aims at reflecting the stereotypes in today’s society through various play.
