A marathi play, Vittho Rukmaay, was staged by the artists of Marathi theatre group Rangayan society in the city recently. The play won the hearts of audience at the university auditorium
on Saturday evening. It started with the inauguration of the event and welcoming of the chief guest, Mr. Rajan Deshmukh, a prominent Marathi theatre artist.

Ratnakar Matkari and directed by Rahul Bharade, Vitho Rukmaay narrated the love story of God Vitthal and his wife Rukmini.
The story revolves around the small fights between him and his wife because of a girl named Tulsi who seemingly comes between them. Vitthal brings Tulsi home as she was helpless, but Rukmini doesn’t feel right about this. She gets so upset with her that, at a point of time she even tries to kill her. The story underlines the dilemma of Lord Vitthal who had to deal with the problems of normal life in his human form.
The actors who stole the show with their talent were Rahul Bharade, who played the role Vitthal did justice to his part. Radhika Apte, another artist played the emotional role of Tulsi in the play. Bhawna Salkade played the role of Rukmini, Vitthal’s wife. The play was successfully organized by the team of Saanand Marathi group. With proper art direction by Rahul, the play was a musical delight for the audience at the auditorium. Colorful costumes, lighting effects and Santoor’s music pieces playing in the background made the drama a spectacular show.
