Indian coach Karthik Yarrammagari mentors young talent across borders
Coach has emerged as a notable figure in international , combining Indian training methods with to mentor players abroad. Certified by the Sports Authority of India (NIS) and BWF Level-1, Karthik has trained athletes from grassroots levels in India to national and international competitions.
Karthik began playing badminton at age seven, coached by his father on a village court. He later competed at district, state, and national levels and represented JNTUA in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament. While completing his education, he started assisting junior players, eventually transitioning fully into coaching after earning his NIS certification.
He has held coaching positions in Tirupati and Bangalore, moving from assistant to head coach across multiple academies. Currently based in the United States, Karthik mentors young athletes preparing for district, state, and national competitions. His training programs include technical development, sparring sessions, and performance evaluations aimed at holistic athlete growth.
Under his guidance, players have participated in events such as PanAm Juniors, ORC, and OLC, gaining exposure on international stages. Karthik has also received a professional sponsorship from Yonex, recognising his contributions as a coach of Indian origin working in the U.S.
In addition to coaching, Karthik continues to compete in tournaments including the Atlanta Open 2024, Boston Open 2024, Frisco Open, Texas Badminton Open 2024, Vistara Open 2025, and BITT Series, winning several medals. He has also organised independent badminton tournaments across Texas, serving as tournament director for events with more than 100 participants, offering local players match experience and competitive exposure.
Karthik’s work reflects a combination of player development, competitive participation, and community engagement in badminton. His programs aim to prepare athletes for both national and international levels, while also promoting participation at the grassroots level.
