Amala Akkineni flagged off the campaign vehicle of ‘Bharosa’ at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad. ‘Bharosa’ is an initiative by Hyderabad police to protect women and children from sexual harassment. The event also saw the stars taking a pledge as part of the #EnoughIsEnough online campaign to sensitize citizens against crimes on women.
Venkatesh congratulated the Hyderabad police for the initiative saying that it is a model for other cities in India.
“Attacks on women and children are on the rise and unless we take some urgent measures, there will be no solution to the problem,” the actor said.
Amala shared that She Teams of Hyderabad police have brought cheers to citizens.
All the guests pledged to report crimes by registering on the online platform. "This has to be a collective initiative from people of all walks of the society," emphasised Anjani Kumar, CP, Hyderabad Police.
"The whole idea of this initiative is to report what is seen and to not stay silent. We can collectively create a mechanism to prevent crimes against women and children from taking place, which are largely on the rise," he added.
