‘Tamannaah and I got along like a house on fire on the sets of Next Enti’

Teaming up with one of my favourite directors Kunal Kohli, whom I idolised since childhood was indeed a dream come true,” says Sundeep Kishan as he gets talking about his latest release Next Enti. “This is the first urban romance that I’m doing in my career. I’ve grown up watching Kunal Kohli’s films and I came into the project
with a certain excitement of working with a filmmaker whose style I really like and admire,” adds the actor.
Admittedly, Sundeep initially had some reservations about doing a film about relationships and commitment. “For the last couple of years I’ve been doing a lot of thrillers and action films and thought it wouldn’t quite suit my image. But it was a seasoned director and a great team, so I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did so. It’s a very conversational film that gives an insight into how men and women look at each other. film, that doesn’t quite happen with the budgets we usually have.”

happened to be among the few people with whom Sundeep had very less interactions prior to the shoot of Next Enti. However, once they got to the sets, the duo got along like a house on fire. “We enjoyed rehearsing together, giving long takes. This is a film that’s highly dependent on our chemistry and timing, I’m glad it has come out well. The fondest

I have about working with Tamannaah is the number of ice creams we used to steal from each other on sets,” explains Sundeep laughing.
The actor feels Next Enti sends an important message about women empowerment. “We are in an era where we can be bold about what we show and speak about. Five years ago, maybe we would’ve been skeptical about touching a slice of life film that doesn’t run significantly on conflicts or interval bangs. Arjun Reddy, Goodachari and RX100 have done a lot to liberate our filmmakers from stereotypes, thereby widening our horizons,” he adds.
The actor wishes to do more films set in the realistic space in the future. “A real film only gets you to recreate what you see and experience in life, so I would want to do more films in this space. Even with Next Enti, we’d chosen a UK backdrop so that the characters talk and react without any apprehension,” he says signing off.
