Apart from showering her with bouquets of flowers and shawls, the gathering cheered and clapped for Sindhu. “I am very happy and thankful to all for the warm welcome. I will continue to work hard in the coming days to win more awards and rewards for the country,”

The 26-year-old shuttler was particularly pleased to see fans come to receive her at the airport. “I missed fans in the stadium while playing the tournament. So seeing all of you here come to show me your love gives me great joy,” Sindhu added.
