Hyderabadis were treated to an evocative melange of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music recently as three stalwarts - award winning actress-danceuse Shobana and acclaimed vocalists Bombay Jayashri and Abhishek Raghuram - lit up a packed Shilpakala Vedika with their skill and artistry. Performed by Shobana and an ensemble of young dancers, ‘Lotus Feet’, presented by Times of India, recreated the magical world of gods and asuras combining the navarasas of classical music with nuances of stage lighting to offer an immersive viewing experience.

The performers, complemented commendably by Ananth R Krishnan on percussion, Vivek V Krishna on flute and Praveen D Rao on keyboard depicted stories of Lord Shiva, Lord Rama and warrior goddess Mahakali in recital that was a blend of picture perfect Bharatanatyam mudras, lilting Carnatic ragas and soulful Sufi tunes.

Actor and Bharatanatyam dancer Amala Akkineni, who was among the audience, summed up the performance saying, “Shobhana and Bombay Jayashri are two artistes I love, and it was great to witness them perform together. It was a great show.”Shobana and her team even received a standing ovation from the crowd after the performance. The danseuse who performed in the city after three years thanked the audience for such a resounding response.
