Pink Ribbon Walk: City folk unite to create awareness on breast cancer

The 12th edition of the 2K Pink Ribbon Walk recently held at KBR Park turned out to be a huge success. The event was flagged off by the Chief Secretary, govt. of Telangana, S.K Joshi, IPS Anjani Kumar and Noor Sandhu, a 30 year old brave

survivor who is currently undergoing treatment.

Around 3000 People from all walks of life— Breast cancer ‘conquerors’ and their families, students from various schools and colleges in the city, army personnel and diplomats participated in the run, expressing solidarity with the Pink Ribbon Campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, Noor said that with effective counseling, remarkable surgical skills, outstanding post-operative care given to her by Dr Raghu Ram and his team, and equally, support from her family, she is fighting breast cancer boldly. S.K. Joshi paid rich compliments to Dr Raghu Ram and the innovative initiatives that have helped transform breast cancer from a ‘taboo’ issue to a much commonly discussed one.

Emphasising on the importance of early detection in saving lives, Dr Raghu Ram said, “To win the war on breast cancer, all women must get an annual screening mammogram from the age of 40. This is highly essential for early detection.” British Deputy High Commissioner, Andrew Fleming and IT Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan were also present at the event.
