Medical field witnesses 7% new knowledge every month, anyone not keeping abreast will be out of place: Prof BM Hegde

The 2nd batch of medical graduates (batch of 2013) from The Apollo Medical College passed out and received their degrees at a glittering convocation ceremony on Friday.

presented the MBBS degree certificates to 94 graduate students at The Apollo Medical College's second convocation ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. BM Hegde said, "Today you accomplished your dream of becoming a doctor. As a doctor you are a role model to the society and to maintain that stature you need to have an impeccable character, be kind to your patients and well equipped to handle the toughest of the situation. Being a doctor is a great responsibility, a good doctor is a good human being first and that is what can win the confidence of the patient, which is what also gets you the respect from the patient and the society on the whole. He added, “The biggest challenge doctors' face is keeping abreast with the advances in the medical field. Every month 7% new knowledge is added to the

medical field

and anyone not in tune with the change for even six months will find himself out of place, so fast-paced is the development; therefore always strive to be abreast. To be a doctor is a privilege, honour and a rare opportunity, therefore ensure you do your best by professional standards to keep up the esteem of the medical community and make your alma mater proud of you."
