Mahesh Babu, Alia, Leo fall prey to fake photos of Amazon forest fires

There is no doubt that raging fires are ravaging several parts of the

Amazon rainforest

in Brazil since the last 18 days. There is also no question that over the past few days, hoards of celebs — both from India and abroad — have taken to social media to voice their concerns over the environmental crisis. So much so that #PrayForAmazon has become one of the top trending hastags in the world with over 2,50,000 tweets in one day. But some of pictures that the celebs are using to denounce the tragedy are either decades old or are not even from Brazil. And the latest to fall prey to this fake photo trend is actor Mahesh Babu.

Expressing his concern about the devastating fire, the Maharshi actor recently posted a picture that was actually taken by photographer Loren Mclntyre in 2018 and is one of the many generic stockphotos hosted by a website. The list of celebs succumbing to this trend is actually quite an illustrious one with names such as Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza and Cristiano Ronaldo among the many.
